As you go about your life, you might find yourself looking into the mirror one day to realize how much your face has changed.
You were probably too busy building your career or raising a family to pay attention to the changes as they happened. Eventually, though, facial wrinkles, skin laxity, and puffiness affect everyone.
While using “age-defying” creams and masks probably feels like an uphill battle, there are four plastic surgery procedures that can provide real and dramatic improvements to your appearance.
1. Neck Lift
One of the most embarrassing areas for skin laxity to develop is underneath the chin.
When skin droops off of the jawline, a condition known as “turkey wattle” develops. While some wrinkles can be concealed with makeup, turkey wattle has no remedy other than surgery.
A neck lift targets excess skin on the neck. The incision normally begins in the hairline near the sideburn and continues around the ear. Dr. Bonaldi’s goal is to make the incisions as inconspicuous as possible.
Through these incisions, the skin beneath the jaw is pulled upward to create a defined neck contour.
2. Brow Lift
Communication is an important part of everyday life, and non-verbal communication is equally important, if not more so.
So when sagging skin in your eyebrow and forehead area causes you to look constantly unhappy or angry, your ability to socialize can take a hit.
Luckily, a brow lift can correct laxity in your upper face and restore your ability to communicate through expressions.
There are two methods of brow lifts available: endoscopic and lateral.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Dr. Bonaldi begins the procedure by making small incisions in the hairline. A small camera is then inserted into the incisions to guide Dr. Bonaldi as he adjusts and tightens the underlying muscle and tissue.
This procedure is less invasive than other methods and only takes around an hour to complete.
Lateral Brow Lift
In cases where only minimal correction is needed, a lateral brow lift can be performed to focus on skin laxity in the arches of the eyebrows.
This method requires very small incisions to be made since the correction is highly targeted.
3. Eyelid Lift
The eyes are one of the few focal points in the face. So when the signs of aging begin to develop around them, the results are often much more obvious than other areas.
Puffy eyelids, impaired vision, and appearing chronically tired are all common effects of drooping eyelid skin.
Luckily, an eyelid lift can treat these concerns and focus on either the upper or lower eyelids of a patient to best treat their unique condition.
Upper Eyelid Lift
This procedure focuses primarily on the removal of excess skin to restore a full range of vision and create a more lively appearance. Incisions are made within the natural fold of the upper eyelid.
Lower Eyelid Lift
This method is more concerned with the removal of fat deposits in the lower eyelid that cause sagging and puffiness. The incisions are hidden inside the lash line.
4. Facelift
Facelift surgery is the most common facial procedure used to address signs of aging.
Most people begin to consider a facelift when they start developing moderate or severe wrinkles. But a facelift can also correct problems like volume loss, sagging jowls and cheeks, excess neck skin, and muscle banding or excess fat throughout the face.
Dr. Bonaldi provides three different options for facelift surgery that can target different facial conditions: the Bonaldi Aesthetic Lift, Monogram Lift, and Signature Lift.
Bonaldi Aesthetic Lift
This method was developed for patients who only need a subtle lift and tightening of the face. After gently tightening the skin, Dr. Bonaldi will use fat grafting to fill areas of the face that have become hollow.
This procedure is less invasive than other facelift options, so the recovery is quicker and less painful.
Monogram Lift
The Monogram Lift may be the best option for patients concerned with sagging skin along the jawline since it is tailored to lifting tissues on the lower face.
While fat grafting is also a common part of this procedure, it is also combined regularly with procedures like an eyelid or brow lift to create more dramatic results.
Since the incisions are made within the hairline, scarring is virtually invisible.
Signature Lift
This is the “catch-all” procedure for patients who are experiencing severe signs of aging throughout the face. Wrinkles, sagging skin, and hollowed or sunken areas of skin are addressed during this surgery.
Incisions are made both in the hairline and under the chin for maximum correction. Similar to the Monogram Lift, other procedures can be performed as needed during this procedure to ensure the result is in line with the patient’s desired look.
